Highlights from Florence

• Excellence in Paediatrics took place from 3 to 6 December 2009 in Fortezza da Basso in Florence. The conference attracted 680 scientists from 74 countries all over the world. There were 80 sessions and 107 presentations in total that involved the participation of 81 esteemed speakers, chairmen and moderators.
• The abstracts book was published as a supplement to the journal Child: Care, Health and Development (Volume 36, Issue s1, January 2010). The scientific committee accepted 128 abstracts and selected 17 for the Excellence in Paediatrics awards. Eleven awarded abstracts were presented in special sessions in the plenary room.
