Prof. Claudio Maffeis

Prof. Claudio Maffeis was born on April 7, 1960 in Verona (Italy) where he lives. He graduated in Medicine in 1985, at the University of Verona where he post graduated in Paediatrics (1989) and in Gastroenterology (1999).

Postdoctoral training: Institute of Paediatrics, University of Verona, Institute of Physiology, University of Lausanne (CH), Department of Paediatrics, Paediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition Unit, Tufts University, Boston MA (USA).

Clinical and academicals career at the Institute of Paediatrics, University of Verona: Assistant Professor (1989), Consultant (1994) and Associate Professor of Paediatrics (2004).

He chairs the Unit of Clinical Nutrition and Obesity, of the Regional Centre for Juvenile Diabetes, University of Verona.

Vice-President of the European Childhood Obesity Group. Chair of the Childhood Obesity Research Group of the Italian Society of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology. Advisor of the Italian Society of Obesity.

Main research interests: energy and nutrient metabolism in children, etiology and metabolic consequences of childhood obesity.
