Prof. Sophie Aronis-Vourna
Professor Sophie Aronis-Vourna is a practiced Paediatrician, with a special interest in Haemophilia / Haemostasis. She had her practice in England, at the Oxford Haemophilia Center for almost two years and the Haematology Department of the Great Ormond Street (Hospital for sick children), in London for one year. She sat the Haemophilia Center / Haemostasis Unit at the "St Sophia's Hospital" in Athens. At the center, they do all the spectrum of haemostasis tests, tests for thrombophilia and prenatal diagnosis of haemophilia with DNA techniques. They run an outpatients clinic for Haemophilia, ITP, Thrombosis/Thrombophilia consultation and monitoring of anticoagulant therapy.
They participate in several European and International Protocols on ITP, inhibitors, side effects of FVIII products, Rare Bleeding Disorders, FVII deficiency, and various clinical studies on plasma derived or recombinant products. They have published several manuscripts in Greek and English Literature on ITP, Haemophilia, Neonatal Haemostasis e. t. c. Professor Aronis-Vourna is an associate editor of Paediatric Blood and Cancer and a reviewer in PBC, Haemophilia and Paediatric Haematology Oncology. She is currently past president of ESPHI.
