Prof. Sarolta Karpati
After medical studies at the Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary, Prof. Sarolta Karpati specialized for dermatology-venerology and cosmetology as a pediatric dermatologist from the Dermatology Department of the Heim Pál Children's Hospital, in Budapest. She completed her Ph.D. thesis on childhood dermatitis herpetiformis, and Dr. Sc thesis on "Autoimmune blistering skin diseases" at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest. Major scholarships: Humboldt fellowship at the LMU, Munich, Fogarthy fellowship at the NIH, NCI, Bethesda, USA.
From 1998 she is professor, from 2004 director and chair of Dermato-Venereology and Dermato- Oncology Department at the Semmelweis University.
In 2007-2008 she is president of the Hungarian Dermatological Society. She is currently board member of the ESDR and the EADV.
Major scientific activities:
Autoimmune blistering skin diseases, gluten sensitivity, molecular biology of inherited skin diseases, pharmacogenomics.
